Application Technician

HmT is seeking a technical and customer-focused Application Technician to join our Cape Town team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing remote and on-site technical support, training, and product expertise to clients while ensuring smooth operation of our solutions. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a project-driven environment.

Experience & QualificationsKey Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide remote customer support via TeamViewer, Cloudberry, AnyDesk, etc. across all company products.
  • Deliver virtual and in-person training sessions to clients on company products.
  • Create and deliver presentations, product demonstrations, and educational videos.
  • Handle internal repairs and RMA processes.
  • Conduct external on-site repairs when required.
  • Support and commission single- and three-phase solar systems, including PV inverters and VFDs.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting, configuration, and commissioning.
  • Attend project meetings and provide technical input.
  • Effectively communicate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Collaborate with the team on technical problem-solving and solution development.
  • SCADA, HMI, and PLC programming (advantageous).


Experience & Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years experience in relevant field/role.
  • Relevant technical qualification or trade certificate.
  • Three-phase or Master Electrician / Wireman’s License (advantageous).
  • Hands-on experience with solar systems, PV inverters, and VFDs.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Must be willing to travel when required.
  • Valid drivers license.
